Here we have a list of red things in nature or the natural world. These range from animals, flowers and plants, and food to any form of natural phenomenon on this Earth and beyond. The things on this list come in all different variations, including light pinkish tones to deep dark reds.
Red is a color associated with physical energy and passion. In the natural world, it’s often used as a warning to predators that danger is near. It’s a color that makes us more alert, and pay more attention to the current moment in time.

Double Scarlet Begonia
The double scarlet begonia makes ideal plants for hanging baskets. The flowers blossom from mid summer to mid autumn.
Wax Begonia
The wax begonia is a perennial flowering plant that blooms in late spring. It’s originally native to South America, and they commonly have red, pink, and white petals.
Common Zinnia
The common zinnia, also commonly known as the elegant zinnia, is a short-lived flowering plant that was originally native to South America, particularly Mexico.
Dahila
Starting off our red things in nature is the Dahila. It’s found in Central America and Mexico. The Dahila is related to the sunflower, and its color can range from pink, orange, violet, purple, and red.
Firecracker Plant
Also known as the Lysimachia Ciliata, it can grow to one meter in height, and it’s commonly orange and red.
Cosmos
The flowers of the Cosmos come in a wide variety of colors including white, yellow and red. These are considered to be some of the prettiest flowers in nature.
Coneflower
The Cone flower is part of the daisy family, and it’s native to North America. You will commonly see white, pink, and red flowers.
Poppies
This well known flower can develop a very strong red shade. It’s also known as the Papaver rhoeas L.

The rose is perhaps the most famous and well-known flower that is associated with the color red. However, they also blossom into various different colors. Its scientific name is (Rosa).
Gerbera
The Gerbera is another member of the daisy family. It originates in the South African region.
Lotus
Also known by its name the Water Lilly or the Nelumbo Nucifera. It’s a unique flower, it has evolved to thrive in muddy conditions, and even spends some of its life completely underwater.
Red Orchid
The Red Asian Phalaenopsis Orchid, also sometimes known as Moth Orchids due to the flowers resemblance to Moths. It can display a light red color.

Ruby
When it comes to natural red things, gemstones are perhaps the most beautiful things of all. The ruby is probably the most well known red colored gemstone, and it’s also one of the most valuable.
Garnet
This is the birthstone of the month of January. Garnet derives from the Latin word Garanatus, which means seed-like, referring to the red color of the pomegranate seed.
Tourmaline
This gemstone comes in many different color, one of which is red.
Zircon
These stones come in many different colors, including colorless, which resembles diamonds. Yes, red ones can also be found.
Spinel
While the Spinel gemstone is colorless in its purist form, when mixed with other elements they can often be found with a pink or red tone.
Animals
Red Panda
Moving on to animals with our red things in nature. Starting with the Red Panda. It has dark reddish and brownish colored fur. It was once believed to be part of the raccoon family, and then the bear family. Now it’s not considered to be related to either.
Flamingo
The Flamingo is more commonly known for being pink. However, they can sometimes display a strong red coloration. Its color is influenced by its diet and location.
Scarlet Ibis
The Scarlet Ibis stand out with their powerful scarlet red color. They’re often found in South America, as well as some other tropical locations.
Macaw
These parrots are known for their long tails and their mix of bright attractive colors, including different shades of blues, greens, yellows, and reds.

Another spices of parrot. Its feathers are predominately red, with some bright blue and green included.
Poison Dart Frog
These come in a variety of different colors, one of which is red. There has been an observed correlation between the brightness of the Frog and its level of toxicity.

This popular fish most commonly displays an orange and gold color. However, some can be found with a red coloration.

The ladybug is a type of beetle, and probably the most well liked insect due to its pretty coloration. In the United Kingdom they are known as Ladybirds.

This small blood sucking parasite can often be found with a reddish and brownish color to it.

Also known as Fire Ants. They live up to the common aggressive and dangerous associations of the color red. They are aggressive, they sting, and they can even spit acid.

Not exactly a catchy name. It’s a type of Mite. It has a strong red color, other Mite species are also red in color.

This is a type of dragonfly which is distinctively red in color, particularly the long tail end of its body.
Red Lily Beetle
Also known as the Lily Leaf Beetle, or the Scarlet Lily Beetle, it is obviously a type of Beetle. They enjoy feasting on plant leaves.

These look more like Lizards, however, they’re classed as Amphibians. Their color and patterns can vary. They can be found with a mixture of colors, including black, orange, yellow, and red.
Rosella
They’re a spices belonging to a family of broad tailed parrots. They can be commonly found with a mix of bright colored feathers, often displaying red, green, blue and yellow.
Cardinal
These birds inhabit American from north to south, and they covered almost entirely with differing shades of red.
Koi
Koi are a type of carp which are classed as domesticated. They are often white and red in coloration.
Siamese Fighting Fish
The Siamese fighting fish can be found in southeast Asia. Their coloration often includes, red, orange, and blue.

These are large predatory squids which can be found in the pacific ocean. Their color can change from red to white.

This ancient crustacean was believed to be around for around 350 million years. This was before trees existed.

Perhaps the worlds most popular fruit. The main colors of apples are red and green, sometimes a combination of both.
Red Pear
Pears are most commonly green. However, they often include some red, and some are almost entirely dark red.
Cherry
Cherry’s are one of the most well-known fruits. They are dark red or maroon like in color.
Peppers
Pepper’s commonly come in bright colors, most commonly red, green and yellow.
Chili
Chili’s are a particular type of pepper. They are bright red in color, and often with an orange tinge.
Tomatoes
Tomatoes are a type of berry fruit, despite often being mistakenly called vegetables.
Raspberries
The Raspberry is a popular sweet fruit, commonly used in deserts and yogurts.
Radish
This vegetable is often a light red to pinkish color. Some varieties can look purplish in color. They are believed to be effective at helping to remove toxins from the body.
Kidney Beans
These beans get their name due to their shape and dark red maroon color which resembles that of a kidney.

Cranberries are considered a super food as they have many health benefits. They are deep red in color.

This well known root vegetable is used and prepared in a variety of ways. In the UK it’s commonly pickled.
Plum
This fruit ranges in color from dark red to a deep purple. Dried plums are called prunes.
Mushroom
The Amanita Muscaria is a mushroom that is red in color. While it’s sometimes eaten, it’s not recommended due to its hallucinogenic and sometimes poisonous properties. Mushrooms are often considered vegetables. However, they are classed as a type of fungus.

Mars
Known as the Red Planet. It has a rocky surface, and it’s the forth planet in the Solar System.
Fire
Fire emits long wavelengths which produce colors ranging from yellow, orange, and red.
Hair Red
Red hair is the rarest of hair colors, and it can range from darker red and brown shades, to a lighter ginger color.
Blood
Blood, we know, is the fluid that courses through our veins and provides oxygen to our organs.
